What to Pack for an EBike Wine Tour
You’ve booked your EBike wine adventure - now, what to pack and wear? Whether you’re cruising through the Stellenbosch vineyards or the scenic backroads of Franschhoek, packing smart makes the day more fun (and more photogenic). Here’s your ultimate checklist for riding and sipping in style and comfort, with a few expert tips to help you stay fuelled, sun-safe, and camera-ready.
Riding Essentials
-
Even on electric assist, a day in the saddle is still an active experience. Be prepared with the basics:
- Helmet - We’ll provide one (and yes, it’s required). No helmet, no ride.
- Closed shoes - For comfort and grip on the pedals.
- Water - We’ll supply bottled water for each guest, so you stay hydrated between tastings.
Quick Tip: Bikes ’n Wines provides all bike gear, including bottled water, but feel free to bring your own reusable bottle if you’d prefer to refill on the go.
Wine Tour Style
-
You’ll be hopping on and off bikes, lounging in wine estate tasting rooms, and snapping pics, so go for a mix of comfort and casual style.
- Breathable layers - mornings can be cool, afternoons warm.
- Sunglasses + SPF - The Cape Winelands sun can be strong even in winter.
- Light backpack or pannier for hands-free riding.
Style tip: Think “elevated activewear”, something you’d feel good wearing on a vineyard terrace and a bike trail.
Still not sure what outfit works for vineyards, bikes, and selfies? We’ve got you. See our full guide to wine tour style here.
Nutrition Tips from the Pros
-
Cycling + sipping = energy needed. A little prep goes a long way to keep your body happy from start to finish.
- Pre-ride snack: We’ll provide a light bite and bottled water before you set out, but feel free to eat something small before the tour too, like a banana or oats bar.
- Post-ride protein: Consider a little something for recovery afterwards - pack some nuts, or treat yourself to a smoothie or charcuterie board at the final wine estate at the end of your tour.
- Hydrate between tastings: Alternate wine with water throughout the ride (we supply a bottled water per guest).
Did you know? Staying hydrated between tastings not only supports your energy, it helps you enjoy wine more by keeping your palate fresh.
