Making A Booking
Yes. Reservations are required for guaranteed spots on all tours. Reservations help us determine the number of guides we need to ensure that our groups remain manageable and enjoyable, and they allow us to notify you of changes to the tour due to weather or anything that could disturb the tours.
Our office hours are Monday - Friday, 08h00 - 17h00, Saturday 08h00 - 13h00 South African Time. Email enquiries outside of these times will be responded to first thing on Monday morning. The cell phone booking line will be operational from 08h00 - 19h00 on weekdays and 08h00 - 16h00 on weekends. The bookings phone will not be answered outside of these hours.
Our tours are booked on a first come, first serve basis, so to avoid disappointment,
please book in advance. Arrivals without a booking will not be guaranteed availability,
although we will do our best to accommodate you wherever we can.
You can turn any of our tours into a Private tour at a surcharge of R2095 for the group.
Once your booking request is received, invoiced and full payment made, it is refundable as per the conditions below: (a) Less than 48hrs before scheduled tour = No refund (b) Less than 72hrs before scheduled tour = 50% refund (c) More than 72hrs before scheduled tour = 90% refund (d) Bikes n Wines shall refund 95% of the tour fee for all tours cancelled due to inclement weather. All cancellations to be done in writing.
On Tour
Our tour guides are first and foremost bicycle guides. They are not permitted to drink wine when they are working as this would be irresponsible. We ask our guests to not take offence when they decline to partake.
Wine tasting is a personal experience, and our tours feature a selection of wines to cater to a variety of tastes. If a particular wine doesn't appeal to you, it doesn't reflect its quality - each estate we visit is an award-winning, highly regarded producer. If you have specific preferences, feel free to let us know, and we’ll craft a private, tailored tour that matches your tastes and cycling level. For those seeking a more refined experience with food and wine pairings or in-depth tastings, consider booking our Luxury Tour, or request a custom experience. We take pride in offering tours that cater to a range of preferences, with 3- to 5-star options available.
Our group tours have set start / end times, set wineries or estates visited, as well as set
distances cycled. This information is all readily available on each individual tour page. If
you have booked on a group tour, please note that we WILL NOT alter the tour to cater
for specific needs. If you are in any doubt, contact us to book a private customized tour
experience that best suits your unique requirements.
Preparations
Wear whatever is comfortable to cycle in. Opt for active wear like leggings, shorts, or athletic pants paired with a comfortable, breathable top and sneakers (or similar closed shoes). Avoid wearing dresses, tight skirts, open shoes, or high heels as they may restrict movement or compromise your safety while cycling. Don't forget to bring along a sweater or windbreaker to prepare for changing weather conditions.
Weather
As much as we would like to, we have no control over the weather. It is generally hot (25 to 35 degrees) during our summer months, and often rainy in our winter months. Please be aware of this. You will receive our rainy day policy once you have made a reservation, or you can view it on our website under About Us.
