The farm Vredenheim was given to Hendrik Elbertz by Simon Van der Stel, who was the governor of the Cape at the time. It then went through a series of owners until it was purchased by the Roux family in 1772. The farm remained in the Roux family for 170 years. The new owners have reintroduced game to the farm. New arrivals to the farm are lions, which you will be cycling past during the tour. For more information go to www.vredenheim.com
